Reds play the Phillies

August 28 at Cincinnati :  Reds 3 Phils 1 ..... Browning pitched beautiful game allowing only 1 run and 2 hits in 8 innings. Bench hit a 2 run homer and Eric Davis added a solo blast.  Phils 2 hits came in 6th when with 2 outs, Rose doubled and scored on Bowa's single. Franco got the save.

August 29 at Cincinnati: 12 innings, Reds 2 Phils 0 .... George Foster hit a 2 run homer with 1 out in the 12th for the win. Both starters were magnificant as Denny went 7 for the Phils allowing 3 hits and Pastore finished 8 scattering 6 hits. Hume pitched the 12th for the win.

August 30 at Philadelphia:  10 innings, Phils 3 Reds 2 ... Hayes singled with 1 out and bases loaded in the 10th scoring Rose with the winning run.  Rawley started for the Phils and went 7 allowing only 1 run but Reds tied the game in 9th on 2 singles and 2 walks with Bench driving in tying run on a walk.  Foster earlier had hit solo homer. Phils runs came on rbi singles by Gross and Hayes. 

August 31 at Philadelphia:  Reds 4 Phils 2 .... Tom Seaver pitched 8 innings allowing only 1 earned run on 6 hits, only 2 after the 2nd inning.  Phils jumped out to early 2-0 lead on Hayes rbi single and Bowa's ground out. Eric Davis hit a 3 run homer in the 3rd inning and Seaver found his stride.  Franco earned his 2nd save of the series.
