Carlton was the winning pitcher.

September 2:  Phils 5 Braves 4 (11 innings) .... The Braves took an early 4-0 lead as Hubbard hit 2 run homer in 2nd inning and then hit a 2 run double in the 3rd.  Glavine gave up only 1 hit in first 5 innings, but the Phils scored 2 runs in 6th as pinch hitter Schu started the inning with a double and later scored on McBride's single. Glavine now walked Schmidt to load the bases and after walking Matthews to force in a run was gone.  In the 7th the Phils tied the game getting a run on a passed ball and the tying run on Bowa's double.  In the 11th, Gross pinch hit and singled and was sacrificed to 2nd by Manny Trillo.  Rose followed with a double for the game winner.  Bedrosian got the save as Rose snuffed the Braves with an unassisted double play.
